MRN issued its slate for the 2024-2025 board of directors with Kitty McIlroy returning for a second year as president along with Michele Blair and Anthony Drury returning as vice president and secretary/treasurer respectfully. The slate also includes nine individuals for a two-year term and one for a one-year term as directors.

Our Legislative Committee continues to testify on proposed legislation relevant to the recycling industry. Here’s a quick update of the most recent testimonies as well as links to the recordings and MRN position statements.

Legislative chair Chaz Miller has been busy in Annapolis testifying on two separate days on the following bills: Maryland Paint Stewardship and Plastic Products – Postconsumer Recycled Content.

On July 26, MRN President Kitty McIlroy testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. The hearing addressed “Improving Capacity for Critical Mineral Recovery through Electronic Waste Recycling and Reuse.”

On September 5, City Environmental Programs Manager Michele Blair, along with City leadership and DPW staff, met with Lt. Governor Miller to discuss City of Laurel's mandatory composting law, its environmental and financial benefits, and how it will be implemented over the coming year.

The Maryland Recycling Network held its Board of Directors election for the upcoming 2023-24 term* at the MRN Annual Meeting during MRN/SWANA Mid-Atlantic Conference on June 12, 2023.
