Summary: Develops, implements, analyzes, and oversees solid waste operations at the landfill, recycling centers, and other remote locations that provide services to residents and commercial entities within the county. Manages and supervises landfill and recycling personnel and confirms personnel resources are appropriate, reasonable, and properly scheduled to meet customer needs. Ensures work is consistent with industry standards and complies with applicable federal, state, and county codes, standards, regulations, contracts, and permits.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED). Seven (7) years of progressively responsible management experience in heavy equipment operation and landfill management, recycling, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Licenses or Certifications:

Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) Certification as offered by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) must be obtained within one year of employment in this position.

Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or Household Hazardous Waste and Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators (CESQG) Collection Operations by SWANA.
