Repurpose Aggregates Tour Recap

Published on 9/21/2023

On Thursday, September 14, 35 recycling professionals from around the state toured the Repurpose Aggregates facility in Harford County. Repurpose Aggregates recycles unused or unwanted materials such as concrete, brick, dirt, etc. from construction, demolition and excavation activities in this state-of-the-art facility. Once processed, the materials are then reusable in the industry as a substitute for virgin aggregate materials. These products can be used to incorporate dredged material into lightweight aggregates, manufacture sand, stone, bricks and blocks, produce manufactured topsoil and create fill for construction projects.

The tour also included a walk through the SusCon Product facility on site where material from the Repurpose Aggregates system is used to fabricate pre-cast concrete blocks to build tall gravity walls. SusCon Product is approved by the Maryland State Highway Administration for gravity walls up to 25’ in height and up to 50’ for Mechanically Stabilized Earth walls.

The net result from the facility is a substantial reduction of the carbon footprint from construction.
