Three MRN members awarded the 2020 Sustainable Maryland Certification.

Sustainable Maryland recently announced the 2020 Sustainable Maryland Certified Awards for municipalities and MRN is proud to say that three of our members, Town of Berwyn Heights, The City of Greenbelt, and City of Takoma Park, were honored for their commitment to sustainability in their communities.


The City of Greenbelt was also named the Sustainability Champion for amassing impressive 795 points, which is the highest score in 2020 and since the inception of the program.

  • Bel Air (first certified in 2014, re-certified in 2017)
  • Berwyn Heights (first certified in 2014, re-certified in 2017
  • Boonsboro (first certified in 2014, re-certified in 2017)
  • Chesapeake Beach (first certified in 2014, re-certified in 2017)
  • Frostburg (first certified in 2017)
  • Greenbelt (the 2020 SUSTAINABILITY CHAMPION for highest point total – first certified in 2014, re-certified in 2017)
  • Landover Hills (NEW!)
  • Mount Airy (first certified in 2017)
  • Riverdale Park (first certified in 2014, re-certified in 2017)
  • Takoma Park (first certified 2014, re-certified in 2017)
  • University Park (first certified in 2014, re-certified in 2017)
