MD Recycling Market Development: In addition to the good news on current market growth, the passage of
HB 164/SB116, Department of the Environment – Office of Recycling – Recycling Market Development legislation
has been hailed as a positive step towards creating a vibrant recycling
economy in Maryland by facilitating business growth, making recycling
economically viable and protecting our natural resources. We have been a
strong supporter of the legislation and worked intensively with the
sponsors of the bill to ensure its passage.

National Recycling Strategy: Just today, the
EPA released the first part of a
series of strategies seeking
to build a circular economy that works for us all. Today’s release
focuses on the challenges the the U.S. municipal solid waste recycling
system faces and identifies actions that can be taken to secure a more
resilient and cost-efficient system.
Finally, we are thrilled to be celebrating our
30th Anniversary!
Since we began in 1991 as the Maryland Recyclers Coalition (MRC), we
have been – and continue to be – a resource and leading voice for
recyclers in Maryland through education programs, advocacy activities to
affect public policy, technical assistance efforts, and the development
of markets to purchase recycled materials and manufacture products with
recycled content. In the next few months, we’ll be talking with members
as we revisit the past, celebrate the present, and look towards the
future. Stay tuned for more plus details of a special in-person
celebration coming in 2022!
