Plastic Cup & Container Recycling Update
About this event
Plastic take-out cups and containers, including clamshells, thermoforms, trays, and tubs, can be made of various plastic resins like polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polypropylene (PP) providing a convenient and safe way to take home our meals and treats. However, not all container shapes and resins have had equal success in being recycled. Join us for a real-world discussion on challenges and solutions in the effort to divert plastics from landfills and keep our waterways clean.
Learn about recent research on PET and PP recycling and potential pathways for increasing the recovery of post-consumer plastics. Get a better understanding of bale specifications and material sorting in MRFs. In addition, you’ll hear directly from a secondary processor who is transforming recycled plastics into new products.
