Over 150 solid waste management and recycling professionals convened on Tuesday, June 11 at the BWI Marriott in Linthicum Heights, MD to learn about and discuss the hottest topics in the industry including the effect of a changing climate on waste management and recycling plans and models, commodities markets, customer service, new technologies and more.

Twenty-Four exhibitors also displayed a wide variety of products and services from software to hardware, equipment to consulting and everything in between. Together with the numerous networking opportunities, conference attendees walked away with several bins of new tools and ideas they can put to work.

MRN 2019 Recycling Award Winner:

Jeanette Garcia Polasky and her team accept the outstanding Government Leadership Award on behalf of the Clean Green Baltimore County Social Media Program.

Her team members included (L to R), Natalie Adachi, Richard Keller, Jahi Thomas,  Mike Beichler, Charlie Reighart and Cory Daviau. The Bureau’s flagship outreach project this past year was “Tangled Up,” a comedic silent film-style PSA that demonstrates why Baltimore County doesn’t accept items such as plastic bags and clothing for recycling, and to show how operations are halted daily at the County’s recycling facility because residents put “tanglers” in their recycling.
