Friends, family and colleagues came together recently to celebrate MRN board member Charlie Reighart who retired from Baltimore County after more than 30 years of service.

Charlie served as recycling and waste prevention manager where he oversaw a number of projects including a successful intern program (which we highlighted in 2017) hiring more than 100 interns since the 1990s. Charlie has also been an integral part of MRN as a board member and volunteer for about the same amount time. Here’s hoping he’ll stick around for many more years!

During the celebration, Charlie’s efforts on the legislative front were recognized by Delegate Dana Stein (pictured left) for his part in the passing of HB 164 Department of the Environment – Office of Recycling – Recycling Market Development. Recycling Markets Development legislation has long been a goal of MRN and its passing is a huge accomplishment for all who have worked on getting it through. Learn more about MRN’s legislative efforts on our Legislative / Regulatory page.

Congratulations also to former MRN BOD member Christopher Skaggs, executive director of Northeast Maryland Waste Authority, who retired in August after serving 32 years with the Authority. And to Andrew Kays who has been appointed his successor. Kays, who has worked with the Authority for more than 15 years, was confirmed by Governor Larry Hogan in August. Read more.

Good luck to Charlie, Chris and Andrew on their new endeavors.
