In an effort to combat rising trash costs, the
City of Greenbelt implemented a new program to save residents money and reduce trash.
The
Save As You Throw program introduced a two-part fee structure that lowers the base service fee and gives residents a choice between variable or fixed landfill pricing. The program is designed to incentivize waste reduction and promote equity by aligning costs with usage - giving residents an option to reduce household costs.
