(pictured with MRN President Kitty McIlroy)*.
This year’s winning piece, titled “What We Once Enjoyed,” was created by Century High School student Amaya Harding. The artwork featured a stunning flower arrangement crafted from repurposed materials, including plastic spoons, floral foam, and Christmas light wire.
MDE awarded Harding a $500 Amazon gift card for her winning entry, and a $200 Amazon gift card to the top winners in each category. Additional prizes included two passes to the National Aquarium for all winners as well as a $30 Amazon gift card for all students and teachers who participated in the contest.
The contest was held on Friday, November 21, at Montgomery Park in Baltimore City. Students from 14 high schools and one 4-H club submitted a total of 49 entries, all constructed from reused materials.
Congratulations to all the talented winners as well as to all participants!
