It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of two innovators in the recycling and solid waste industries.
Walter Davenport, Jr., founder of
MSW Consultants, passed away on October 21, 2025. Davenport was a pioneer in the solid waste industry helping shape the industry into what it is today. As an MRN Sustaining member, he was a strong support of the organization helping MRN to advance its mission of optimizing sustainable reduction, reuse and recycling (the 3 “R’s”) in Maryland. Davenport was known for his integrity and kindness, a legacy that will not be forgotten.

Craig Peter Stuart-Paul, a waste and energy project developer, passed away on July 26, 2025. Stuart-Paul was a past MRN president and a fixture among the recycling and solid waste community launching several recycling projects as well as developing innovative mixed-waste-to-energy projects across several states.
