What is EPR? In brief, EPR, also known as Product Stewardship, places responsibility for end-of-life product management on producers and other companies involved in the product chain while encouraging design changes that make products more recyclable.
The Maryland General Assembly is back in session for 2021 and the MRN Legislative Action Committee, led by Chaz Miller, has already jumped into action. The Committee will be following a number of relevant bills dealing with everything from EPR to recycling market development and more.
On January 15, 2021, MRN board members Chaz Miller and Richard Keller testified at the House Environment and Transportation Committee hearing in support of HB0164 Department of the Environment – Office of Recycling – Recycling Market Development.
The financial impact of Covid-19 will undoubtedly be felt through 2021 as state, county and municipal budgets feel the pinch of declining revenues. At the same time, our citizens will continue to expect to recycle services without interruption.
